Museum-based arts education
Bringing Museum Learning into Schools and Communities
Museum in a School creates inquiry-based art experiences that connect works of art, ideas, and creative practice with classrooms and communities.
Founded by artist, museum educator, and college professor Wan Ling Fahrer, Museum in a School brings more than two decades of experience in museum, K–12, higher education, and community-based art education to schools, libraries, educators, families, and community organizations throughout Long Island and the greater New York area.
Through close looking, open-ended inquiry, conversation, and artmaking, participants are invited to observe, question, interpret, make connections, consider multiple perspectives, experiment with materials, and develop their own creative responses.
Programs draw upon museum education practices, culturally responsive teaching, interdisciplinary learning, and multimodal approaches to create meaningful and accessible experiences for diverse learners.
